JAMB Introduces 8 New Guidelines To Stop Cheating

 

Jamb has introduced 8 new tips for UTME to prevent candidates from cheating.
This 12 months, the joint admissions and matriculation board (jamb) has taken steps to minimize examination malpractice.

In advance of the 2018 unified tertiary matriculation exam (utme), jamb has new policies and hints that could save you students from cheating.
1,. The adoption of cctv cameras for all the cbt centres.
2, The adoption of a unmarried corridor containing 250 practical computer or computer computer systems with extra 25 as backups. The There has been a long battle to curb examination malpractice in Nigeria all to no avail.
3, The adoption of cabled Local Area Network (LAN) and not wireless connectivity.

 

 4,. The adoption of cubicles with minimum length of 26 by 18 inche

5, There will be adequate security with minimum of five technical personnel and a network engineer on site.
6,. Availability of back-up power supply (power generating set of minimum of 40KVA for a centre with 250 systems) and UPS/inverters that can carry all systems for a minimum of two hours.
7, All the centres should have minimum of 250-capacity reception facility such as canopy with chairs.
8,. All the centres’ premises must be enclosed and must have adequate and functional air-conditioners. The centres must also have lighting, up-to-date antivirus and minimum of Windows 7, among others.
Recall that last year, the board said it would no longer use scratch cards but would adopt “pin vending” for the 2018 UTME test. Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the head of media and information advised intending candidates to get familiar with the new approach.

JAMB to monitor Jamb 2018 candidates with CCTV cameras

 

Jamb 2018 is going to make news. Jamb is now set to begin monitoring candidates with CCTV cameras. According to the examination body, the move is to reduce the rate at which Jamb candidates engage in malpractice yearly.

The policy will be enforced beginning from Jam 2018/2019 examination. According to the Joint admission and matriculation board (BOARD), those who are not caught during the examination will definitely be caught after the examination.  Read the full story below…

Prof Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar and chief executive of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has said that candidates, who wish to sit for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, will take the examination under the surveillance of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.

The registrar while speaking during a briefing in Abuja said the measure was necessary and that it is aimed at preventing examination malpractice during the UTME.

 Oloyede also said that the measure will further strengthen public examinations, particularly entry level examinations into higher institutions.

For CBT centres, any operator who does not install CCTV cameras before the exam will not be accredited for the UTME.

The registrar also cautioned parents, guardians and candidates to avoid patronizing those “fake vendors of UTME forms.”

He also stressed that JAMB had neither started the sales of the form nor authorised any Cyber Cafe operator to sell the form on its behalf. Do not fail victim of fake Jamb 2018 registration.

What are the notable desktop icons for Computer Based Test (CBT)?
 (a) The START Button: the time that every exam commences is the START period and the time that the exam ends is the STOP button. Examinees should be very watchful of this button as it the paramount of all.

(b) Time and Progress: Immediately when you click start, the clock timer begins to count, which indicates the progress of the exams. This also indicates the time that is remaining for the exams. At any point of the exams, at least you should be able to see how much time remaining for you.

(c) Question Counter: just like the time counter, there is also questions timer. This indicates how many questions you have answered and how to get it.

For instance you are writing a 50 question exams and you are on the eleventh question, the question timer will indicate something like question 11 of 50. Meaning that you still have 39 questions unanswered. Simple maths isn't it?

(d) Test Navigation: This feature of a computer based test is as important as the test itself and they are always available on the test screen throughout the test session. Notable of the navigation are :
(i) NEXT which goes to the next question when clicked, clicking next moves you the next screen 
(ii) This gives the examinee the opportunity to go back to earlier answered question, she they changed their mind towards the ostensibly correct answer. Clicking PREVIOUS moves you back one screen.

(iii) SUBMIT this is the most important of all the buttons, because there is nothing as bad as writing a test without submitting it. You will not have your score if you did not submit your test. Clicking submit button submits the test or exams and sometimes closes the exam window. This at times marks the STOP of the exams.

(iv) The Scroll Bar: Some test may not fit on the screen. For these questions, a scroll bar will appear. To reveal the rest of the questions, either you use the mouse to click drag the scroll bar or click on the arrows on either end of the scroll bar.

Left clicking is what you use to select actions like starting the exam,selection of answers and to submit your answers after exam.

Right clicking is not that essential in this aspect

Vertical scrolling,a circle like symbol that is located at the middle of the mouse is very important because you use it to scroll up to the next question or down to previous question though left clicking can do that if the scroll bar appears.

ANSWER: Payment is open and we encourage early payment to avoid mistakes while registering you. The Subscription will close UNEXPECTEDLY. Paying now is the best.

QUESTION 2: How will you know that I have paid into your Account?
ANSWER: Yes, the bank will send us an SMS and Email alert that someone with name (Your Depositor Name) has paid some amount (Amount Paid) into our account on (Date & Time).

QUESTION 3: Please, I can't go to the Bank because am in rural Area or because Bank is far from my location. Can I pay through recharge Card?
ANSWER: YES, you can pay with recharge card BUT paying with CARD is coster than BANK payment.

QUESTION 4: How will you know the subjects that am paying for, my Phone Number and how should I send my details?

QUESTION 5: But sir, i don't have any bank account, how do i make the payments?
ANSWERS: whether you have a bank account or not, it does'nt stop you from depositng money for someone. All you need to do is to goto the GT Bank nearest to you and request for "Deposit slip" and make your payments and your done.

QUESTION 6: I was just introduced to this now or I just registered now as member to see this And the Subscription has Closed.
ANSWERS: You don't need to subscribe when the Subscription has already closed that's why we prefer early payment.

QUESTION 7: Is this N5,500 payment for each subjects?

ANSWER: No! And never! The outgoing waec candidates felt our endless answers hours before exam but since the Waec is simpler a 1Hrs before the exam is a rest assured time.
